Finally finished! This is Mrs. CB's Camp Jacket pattern from Chicknits, written by Bonne Marie Burns. This pattern is no longer available but she has a modern, updated version called Miss BB available now. I started this November 9, 2011 with expectations of finishing by Christmas. However, I had issues reading the pattern. No fault of the pattern or the author just that there were 4 things to do on the fronts all at the same time but on different rows. So I ended up reknitting the fronts 3 times. Finally, I charted out the increases and decreases and that got me through. I realize now I am a limited multitasker. Two possibly three things at the same time but 4 or more and I lose it. Good to know!
This is made with some 100% wool from Scotland that my mom ordered on the internet a few years ago. Lovely, hearty, strong wool that was pleasure to knit with. Knit up on 4mm and 5 mm needles made it a rather quick knit even with the reknit sections. The stitch definition is outstanding. The only problem is that it came out a little big, even for a jacket. So after I constructed it all together I sent it for a little felting action. I ran it through a hot wash for about 5-7 minutes of agitation and then into a hot dryer for another 5-7 minutes. Constantly checking on it. It fulled up slightly retaining the stitch definition well. Just about the perfect size now. Photo is pre felted. I finished knitting this up on January 15th, 2012. I felted it on January 19th, 2012. I am really happy with how it turned out and have plans to make a Miss BB pattern for myself from the same wool.
