Finally finished! This is Mrs. CB's Camp Jacket pattern from Chicknits, written by Bonne Marie Burns. This pattern is no longer available but she has a modern, updated version called Miss BB available now. I started this November 9, 2011 with expectations of finishing by Christmas. However, I had issues reading the pattern. No fault of the pattern or the author just that there were 4 things to do on the fronts all at the same time but on different rows. So I ended up reknitting the fronts 3 times. Finally, I charted out the increases and decreases and that got me through. I realize now I am a limited multitasker. Two possibly three things at the same time but 4 or more and I lose it. Good to know!
This is made with some 100% wool from Scotland that my mom ordered on the internet a few years ago. Lovely, hearty, strong wool that was pleasure to knit with. Knit up on 4mm and 5 mm needles made it a rather quick knit even with the reknit sections. The stitch definition is outstanding. The only problem is that it came out a little big, even for a jacket. So after I constructed it all together I sent it for a little felting action. I ran it through a hot wash for about 5-7 minutes of agitation and then into a hot dryer for another 5-7 minutes. Constantly checking on it. It fulled up slightly retaining the stitch definition well. Just about the perfect size now. Photo is pre felted. I finished knitting this up on January 15th, 2012. I felted it on January 19th, 2012. I am really happy with how it turned out and have plans to make a Miss BB pattern for myself from the same wool.
It's such a quick knit! Mom's friend had requested one. I knocked this out of some Noro Bonburi from my stash. Knit up on January 20, 2012.
Essentially giant socks that get felted down to fit. Meant to be worn over socks in boots like a liner. Should keep my co workers feet nice and toasty when he's digging out his sled! I aspired to have these completed before Christmas but the Mrs. CB sweater problems kayboshed that plan! I knit these up on 5mm needles with some Paton's Classic Wool in the Harvest colourway. Started January 18th, 2012 and completed with felting January 27th, 2012.
I hate it when I knit something up so awesome as a gift. It makes it very difficult to gift them! I really, really, really wanted to keep this for myself. I could knit up another one for me but I bought the last 2 balls of yarn in this colourway from the store. Actually last 2 balls of this kind of yarn...so I can't make this for me. Yet. I'll keep looking for some more of this wool to make myself one. This knit up quick and the pattern is dead simple. I used Noro Hitsuji 100% wool and a 9mm needle on January 16th and 17th, 2012.
Great pattern! I knit this up for my BFF Terri's late Christmas present. Short rows and a yarn with long runs of colour make a real statement. The pattern can be found for free on Ravelry! Knit up with Bernat Mosaic (100% acrylic, in a good way) in the Spectrum colourway. Was a quick knit on 3.5mm needles. Started Feb 6, 2012 and completed Feb 12, 2012.
I knit up my sister another small shawl for her birthday this year. This is my 3rd version of this pattern. So simple yet it turns out so pretty! Knit up in Drops Delight 75% superwash wool and 25% polyamid blend. Colour 09 Dyelot 10. Knit up on a 3.5mm needle. Started April 6th, 2012 and completed June 20th, 2012.
Another pair of socks! These I was thinking of keeping for myself but I think I will send them overseas to a friend. Knit up with Lion Brand Sock Ease in the Red Hots colourway. Took a long while to complete as I finally figured out why I wasn’t knitting as often. I couldn’t see my knitting very well! A pair of reading glasses solved that and now I’m back to knitting at my usual pace. Started June 24, 2012 and completed September 22, 2012.
