Sew Retro!

It's beloved Butterick B4790!  Vintage 1952!  Another 'Fast & Easy' pattern that was neither for me!  I cut a size too small and my seams began to fray apart!  I don't know what I do to deserve the drama but I am happy with the end result!  Made with 100% linen I started this May 21st and completed it today May 24th.

Long Weekend F.O.'s!

With apologies for the photo quality.  The guy takes 2 frames each, maybe, not even!

A dress...

This is a modified version of Hot Patterns Hot Cha Cha Cha No Sweat Easy Sew Halter Dress.  (Funny, when I type that out the voice in my head becomes that of the announcer at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show!  Weird.  Try it.  See, it totally fits!)  The dirty details are in the photo album.

And I made a sweater.

This is (the voice again!)  Reversible Winter Capelet made from Bernat Handicrafter cotton held double throughout.  The sweater took me 6 hours of straight knitting.  I was distracted by Frank Sinatra movies on TCM.  The dress is a quickie!  Cut and sewn in about 3 hours.  Maybe less.  I will time it properly next time!  Either way it's really fast!

Now, What's missing here?

I built a hog over the weekend!

If I ever get to the post office this will head down to Northern Cali for Miss Wendy and her clan!

F.O.'d again!

It's Coachella!  What a cool pattern!  And easy!  And free!
Probably should find a racerback tank to wear under this as leaning or bending forward offers quite a show!

WTF is that?!

A pig, a bunny, a rat, a wombat?

No, silly, it's a squirrel!

I had to give him a little faux hawk.  To balance out his ears!

This will be winging it's way to Sarah and Ella's cousins out in the Prairies.  I hope they are well mannered enough to share!

Stashbuster yarns used.  Some Custom Woolen Mills 2 Ply, Paton's Classic Wool, and another unknown blend wool yarn.  Fiber Trends pattern FT-229 'Nuts About Squirrels'.

Don't worry, Spazz.  I have something different but just as cute planned for your mob.

This girl is sick!

No, really!  I have some sort of deep, barking, uncontrollable, chest coughy, cold thing going on.  It makes me tired from all the coughing but my abs will look fab after this!  Note to self-research TB.

I have an F.O.!

Aren't I hot!?  Lime green Crocs and all!  I do not have superpowers.  My mom was making this and it was too little for her.  Too bad for you!  So nice for me!  All I had to do was assemble it and knit the hood.
This is a Blue Sky pattern and my only comment is if you have to issue a one page errata for a one page pattern...uh...yeah.  Nuff said.  And I see where the new ball of hand dyed wool was added under the bust.  Funny, I didn't notice that until I saw this picture.  Who cares?  Love it!

I put the pattern aside and went out on my own for the hood.

I sculpted the neck and back of the hood and probably should have rounded out that top seam a few more rows before a did the 3 needle bind off.

I also added a few more rows of garter stitch to the bottom edge as it was rolling quite a bit.  Then I finished the hood/neck edge in something similar.

Not bad, not bad.  This was made from Fleece Artist wool/mohair blend.  No link as the internets is very slow and is making me crazy at the moment!

Whoa!  We're back!

Before I get into the good stuff I just have to point something out.  When you are a guest in someone's home, car and cabin, you do not GLEEFULLY point out (after looking at her fabulous passport & photo) that your host is actually a year older than she thinks she is.  It just rude, r-o-o-d, rude!  LOL

Aside from the crushing realization that I'm going to be 39 in 3 months I managed to have a pretty damn good time!

I picked up Terri on Wednesday afternoon and we were off!  First up, a quick trip to the cabin.  But it was too damn cold to stay in our cabin so we bunked up in mom and dad's guest cabin.  No heat but it was insulated, so with the two of us and two hot dogs it got pretty toasty!  I have no cabin or beach walk pictures.  Trust me, it was a lovely time! 

Next stop was home to repack for our Seattle trip.

Monk kept trying to make it with Terri's Malabrigo.

Then it was off to Seattle where we met up with the cutest thing from Northern Cali, Miss Wendy!
I didn't think we would be able to do all the things on our agenda.  But we did!  With yarn stores tossed in there too!  The girls have much better pictures than I do.  I kept forgetting to point my camera at the girls and not the sights.  Here's what I saw.

The Pioneer Building!  Gorgeous Architecture!

The 'Sinking Ship' parking garage.  Bad real estate developers!  They took down a beautiful Victorian hotel to build this.

Giant clam at the aquarium.  So delicate!

Space Needle!  Don't stand at the door of the elevator if you have even the slightest case of vertigo.  Trust me, I almost threw up on my shoes!


And three friends who met through the coolest place of all.  The Internets!

Somebody stop me!

I've done it again!

This is Hot Patterns No Sweat Easy Sew Cha-Cha-Cha Halter Dress.  They're right!  Well, about the easy sew part, there was a little sweating.  Cut and sewn up in one evening.  With a dinner break and a Survivor break.  Started about 4pm and finished with breaks by 9:30!  Woot!
