Have GPS, will travel.

Yesterday I got to do the coolest thing I think I've ever done.  The Fish and I hopped into a rental car and bombed down to Seattle for the afternoon and evening.  Best part?  We got to see and hear Crazy Aunt Purl!  She was speaking at the Seattle Barnes and Noble as part of her book tour!

We got in early and did a little shopping down at Pike Place Market and watched those boys toss the fishes.  Then we wandered back uptown.
And I mean uptown.

Do you see the handrail attached to the side of the buildings!  It's that steep, people!  Thank goodness it's only one block.
We wandered some more and ate some late lunch and then went over to the bookstore.  We were the second pair of people to arrive and I have to say the first pair were definite 'keeners'.  The one girl kept remarking to each and everyone as they arrived, what handknit item they were wearing at what the pattern name was.  It was fascinating yet she passed right by me and my Cozy V-Neck with Deep Ribbing.  I was a little hurt!  Insert tongue in cheek here!  By the time the girl started talking about 'scaring the Muggles' I was convinced she was knit crazy.  In the harmless, giggling way, of course.  But as I sat there I could envision it all taking a horrible turn.....I kid, I kid.  It was a great group that turned out.

CAP is as charming, witty, so put her in your pocket and take her home cute, as she seems in her blog.  She's smart and funny and a great hugger.  Yes, I got hugged (and HARD!)!  She came out and read a chapter from her book and then did a Q&A.  She has a lovely drawl and really seems to be nice, down to earth, LA lady  .  It was such an enjoyable experience.  ETA:  We saw the Rabbitch!  I totally spaced on her real name as she did on mine!  That was pretty damn funny!  We ran into Mandy and her friend Elizabeth while we were there and went out for coffee and cheesecake afterwards!  I know that if I was still working I never, ever would have driven down those 2.5 hours, hung out for 6.5 hours and then the 2.5 back.  It wouldn't have been an option.  Yipee for unemployment!  Sorry, Fishy.

The funniest part was when we got back after midnight and had dropped our rental car off.  We hopped into Fish's car to get home.  We didn't realize the mall locked all exits out of the parking lot, so we were driving around for quite a few minutes deciding whether or not to cry or call the guy.  In the end the security guy let us out!  Woo!  We can laugh about it now!

Last note-I had to get up at 6:30am this morning to get to a dental appointment (long story about why so early) and my dentist fulfilled my 'ghetto pirate' dream for a few weeks until my porcelain crown is made.
